Children's Speaking Skills are Learned from Birth
to Allow Them to Better Communicate.

Good speech development allows a child a good comprehension of the structure of language. Children learn through speech, the sounds of the english language, grammatical structure and develop a wide vocabulary.

In teaching speaking it is also important for children to be given the opportunity for speaking one on one, in groups and in front of the class for speaking tasks, as it allows for the learning of speaking in specific situations, as well as developing confidence and social skills.

Developing your child's speaking skills will help further their reading and writing.

Some speaking tips to help with your child's speaking include:

  • having frequent conversations with your child about differing topics
  • asking your child open ended questions rather than questions that will give you one word answers
  • play rhyming games
  • get your child to make up stories for you.
  • sing songs, nursery rhymes etc

Check out our range of Magnetic Songs and Felt Stories as these allow for great interaction with your children. Children learn songs to sing which helps with their speaking and language.
